Facebook Marketplace Dealer
Quick update on the 1996 Corvette part-out — so far I’m about $1,000 up from buying and selling parts on Facebook Marketplace.
It definitely hasn’t been easy the whole time. There were a lot of messages, people asking if parts were still available, people making offers, setting up times to meet, and sometimes people not showing up at all. Selling parts one by one can be a hassle, especially when you’re trying to keep track of everything and still work on the actual project.
But in the end, it’s been worth it.
The goal from the start was to buy the Corvette, keep the parts I need for the C10, and sell off the rest to help pay for the build. So far that plan is working. I’ve been able to keep the important parts like the engine, transmission, suspension, and brakes while making money back from the parts I don’t need.
Being about $1,000 ahead on the part-out makes all the extra work feel worth it. It’s also helping keep the C10 build moving without having to spend as much money out of pocket.
There are still more parts to sell, so I’m not done yet, but so far the Corvette donor has been a really good move for the project.
Sometimes the Marketplace messages are a headache, but when the parts start selling and the build starts paying for itself, it all works out.
